One tradition that I began with my first child actually started from a gift that I received. A dear friend gave me a clay ornament with my son’s name on it. I loved it so much that I decided to get one for him each year.
Every fall I attend the Clothesline Fair in Prairie Grove and I purchase clay ornaments from Clay Creations. I buy one for each child. The ornament has the current year and their name on it. I also purchase one that is a family ornament. My goal is for each child to have an ornament from birth to age 18. Something they can use on their Christmas tree as a reminder of their childhood. And I will keep the family ornament on my tree. There is something so warming to the heart each year when I open my box of clay ornaments and place them on the tree. I joke with the ladies of Clay Creations every year, giving them a countdown of when they are allowed to retire. My daughter is 7, so they have a few years to go yet.
The traditions you start don’t have to be an ornament. It can be anything. Maybe you will start a wine glass collection, a Razorback mug collection, aprons, golf balls, etc. The possibilities are endless, but the memories you make will last forever.
